Planning A Healthy Diet- Things To Do

This is one of the healthiest diets that one could refer to. This diet is exclusively helpful for individuals that are dealing with gastrointestinal problems. These problems include gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, etc. The brat diet is prescribed to patients that are dealing with the above mentioned problems.

People that deal with such problems is often found to be at an age of 20-30 years of age and it is most often found in men as compared to women. These problems can be mentioned in a lot of terms, it includes spastic colon, mucous colitis, diarrhoea, nervous colon and dysfunctional bowel. Bad bowel problems do not represent a symptom of bad psychological problem.

If you are dealing with such bowel movement problems, then having the brat diet should be your first preference. You must add bananas, rice and applesauce and toast to your diet and live on this diet till you are able to heal your diarrhoea. This is something that of course not every individual is capable of. However, if you are aware of how your digestive system functions, then you can enjoy any food that you want and you might not have to deal with any symptoms or effects of problems like diarrhoea, constipation or other conditions related to bad bowel movement.

You can plan your diet accordingly, eating a few medium sized bananas. Bananas are a bland fruit, which are considered for constipating and are a great food for diarrhoea. Rice is another bland and well tolerated and is also found not to cause nausea. Applesauce forms an important part of the BRAT diet, as the creamy consistency of applesauce goes down easily and it contains pectin that helps in stopping of diarrhoea.

The first step is adding a small portion of the new food to your usual diet. Like, you can start cooking with olive oil instead of cooking with mustard oil, for a beginning. Making minor changes to your diet one after another shall start becoming a habit. Adding more and more foods to your diet and making it a habit slowly, shall gradually take you to having a healthy diet.

Rehydration plays a very important role in dealing with bowel dysfunction. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily on a constant basis, exclusively for the people dealing with diarrhoea or similar problems. You must avoid carbonated beverages or drinks as it might lead to gas problems and might even cause discomfort. Make sure you drink a lot of water, to ensure your body gets filled with water, as this might prevent constipation.

It is often found diarrhoea reduces the electrolyte present in the body and increases salt imbalances, this further leads to confusion, weakness and other severe health problems. It is recommended for individuals to above beverages, sugary or processed fruit drinks and gelatine based foods.

Eating what is right is not the only concern when you want to get rid of your bad bowel problem. You have to understand what leads to it in the first place; you must remember that eating the right food is not the only thing that is essential here. You have to make sure that the food you consume is in the right combination. This shall help the body to understand how it needs to function to digest the food and work accordingly.
