Summary Of The Causes, Signs, And Remedy Of Shingles Rash Diagnosis

By Melissa Kelly

Many people who can remember how their experience with chickenpox was, would never wish to relive the same experience again. Herpes zoster is a viral infection which resembles chickenpox as they are caused by the same virus known as varicella-zoster. This virus remains in the body after chickenpox diagnosis but in dormant form suppressed by the immune system of the body. This virus becomes active only when the immune system of the body weakens. This excerpt will give a summary of the causes, signs and recommended a remedy for shingles rash diagnosis.

After one is diagnosed with chickenpox, the virus that causes the disease is suppressed by the immune system. It moves to the nervous system where it remains in a dormant status such that it cannot cause any harm to the body. However, if the body immune system weakens or fails, the virus may find an opportunity to cause harm to the body. Therefore, the conditions that suppress the immune system are primarily the causes of this disease.

Aging is one of the conditions that affect the immune system of the body. As a person progressively ages, it reaches a point where the immune system weakens leaving them unprotected and susceptible to any infections that may come their way. This may cause the varicella-zoster virus to reactivate causing a shingles rash. This is only experienced by aged individuals.

Organ and bone marrow transplant may also predispose an individual to contract herpes zoster. Before a surgeon can operate on a patient for an organ or bone marrow transplant, they must administer some medication that suppresses the immune system to allow the body to receive the transplanted organ without any complications. This may cause the varicella-zoster virus to reactivate causing this condition.

People living with HIV/AIDS also stand a higher chance of contracting herpes zoster. This is because the human immunodeficiency virus that is responsible for causing AIDS manifests itself in the body by fighting and weakening the immune system of the patient. With a weakened immune system, the varicella-zoster virus is free to reactivate causing the herpes zoster disease.

The main symptoms of herpes zoster closely resemble those of chickenpox. For this condition, the patient should notice a sharp pain on the skin surface on the affected part. Rashes then appear shortly after noticing the pain which develops to very itchy blisters. This blisters usually flatten and dry off after some time to leave behind scars.

An individual may also be able to notice this condition through several early sighs. The early sighs of herpes zoster include a persistent headache, tingling and numbness of the affected part of the skin, fever and generally feeling unwell. If an individual notices these signs, they should visit their doctor as quickly as possible. Early detection of herpes zoster helps reduce its severity.

This disease the does not have a cure for all other virus-related diseases. Therefore, the medication recommended by the physician only helps with the symptoms only. The physician may recommend the use of painkillers to control the pain. They also recommend antiviral medication to prevent further spread and multiplication of the virus.
