Fooling Infant Immune Systems Can Result In AllergyFree Kids

By Henry Murphy

Today it seems like the majority of little ones suffer from all kinds of allergies. Things that no one seemed allergic to years ago are common triggers now. A lot of parents are wondering what past generations did to avoid having children whose food intake has to be restricted to the blandest choices. Raising allergyfree kids is mostly a matter of common sense and luck.

Many parents believe their children were born with allergies, and there's not much they can do about it. Experts believe that the majority of children are born allergy free and become allergic due to a combination of genetics and experience. As a parent you can increase the chances of having a child without allergies by doing simple things like spending time with them outside in natural light and exposed to healthy bacteria.

Allergies can have a genetic component, so it is important to learn if any relatives have suffered with these conditions. Once you have your family medical history, it will be easier to keep an eye out for signs of the same ailments in your children. There are conditions, such as eczema, that can trigger food allergies.

Deliberately introducing food allergens to infant children is a good way to reduce the chances that they will develop allergies to those same foods. Once you have started your baby on yellow vegetables and rice, you can begin to introduce foods like bananas, wheat, eggs, dairy, along with other known food allergens. In order to control the intake, it is better to begin giving them the food at home rather than allowing daycare workers to introduce the foods.

A negative reaction is possible, and you have to be careful to watch for signs like vomiting, diarrhea, and hives. You don't have to rush to the emergency room. Unlike adults and older kids, only a tiny percentage of infants have severe reactions to allergens that require immediate attention. Even highly allergenic foods are safe for little children.

Once you have started to introduce allergens to your baby, you need to continue on a regular basis. Twice a week is enough to begin to establish an immunity. If you only feed your baby the allergens occasionally, an allergy has time to develop. At some point, you might give your little one a combination of allergens, like bananas and kiwi. Mixing up several and blending them into an infant smoothie is an easy and effective way to promote immunity to a number of allergies at one time.

You should continue to give your child allergens regularly, to create immunity, until they are five. The older a youngster gets, the easier it is for allergies to take hold. You have to fool the infant immune system into believing all foods are safe.

You don't have to resign yourself to having an allergic child. Introducing allergens early and often is one of the best ways to avoid problems later. This strategy doesn't work on all children, but it makes many of them allergy free for life.
