Dry Skin Treatment For Everyone

By Susan Watson

There are several basic types of skin, dry, oily, normal and combined. Each has its own characteristics and requirements. There are really good products for taking care of this largest body organ, whatever type it might be. But, if you are in search for a simple and easy dry skin treatment, this few ideas might be helpful.

Dry type is especially sensitive. Even so, just a little change of your usual habits might make a great difference. Start with your showering routine. Use warm water instead of hot and don't spend more than five minutes in your shower.

Never use products containing alcohol, or scented shower gels, or even soaps. Choose mild and moisturizing body showers with body lotions included. When it comes to quantity of used gel, be cheap with it. Dilute a small amount with water and never exfoliate using aggressive products or sponges.

Once you clean yourself, don't rub your body with a towel. Use one soft towel just to tap off water partially, and apply moisturizing milk on wet body instead. One really good idea is to use pure organic almond oil for this purpose maybe once a week, in the evening. You don't have to apply too much, but remember to wear one pure cotton pajama or something during that night.

Damaged or sour body areas can be repaired using this simple grandma's recipe. Combine one spoon good quality olive oil with the same quantity of honey and ten drops of pure chanterelle oil. Apply this on problematic areas and cover with pure cotton cloths. Leave it there for at least fifteen minutes. Now you can carefully rise it all off, with no rubbing. Use moisturizing lotion then while the skin is still wet.

Regardless of the season, dry type must always be protected from the sun. If it happens that your face or some other parts of your body are reddened by sunlight, apply a layer of heavy sour cream and leave it there for a while. This will relieve redness and inflammation but also moisturize. Yogurt is also effective for this purpose, but is more appropriate for an oily and mixed type. Don't forget to apply your moisturizer every single day.

When it comes to face masks, some can be made at home really easily. For example, this one. You will need a food processor. Put one banana, a spoon of honey, yogurt and almond oil. Almond oil can be replaced with good quality olive oil. Mix smoothly, and apply on your body, and on your face. Leave it there for maybe ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly, tap with soft towel and use your moisturizer.

Of course, you have to nourish your skin from the inside as well. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink enough water. Carbonated drinks should be avoided, as well as alcohol. Alcohol is equally bad as an ingredient in your cosmetic products. Mild deodorants without alcohol are much better solution. Avoid various additives in your cosmetic products as well as in your food, and check if you have any allergies.
